Let’s for a minute compare health coaching to google maps. In google maps, you enter in your destination. From there, Siri gives you a few different options, right? One is usually considered the fastest or most direct route. Most likely, you choose the quickest route and you start on your way. Same with a health coach! What happens in google maps if you make a wrong turn? Does Siri send you home to start over? No! She reroutes you for the next quickest route. Siri never tells you what your destination should be nor does she drive the car for you. Same with a health coach.
As health coaches, we are here to help guide you down the quickest route to feeling your best. We will offer suggestions when it comes to nutrition, exercise and stress management but ultimately you decide which way to turn. One thing we offer that Siri does not is encouragement and gentle accountability. Wouldn’t it be nice if Siri said, “Hey! Great job, you made it to your destination!!”
At Stepping Stone Health, we operate from two fundamental beliefs. One, everyone is bio-individual. This means what works for one person may not work for you. Two, there are two different forms of nourishment. There are primary foods-career, relationships, exercise and spirituality (not necessarily religion). And there are secondary foods-the foods you put in your mouth. You may be thinking-“Hey! You have that backwards!” But the idea is that if the first four things are out of alignment, it doesn’t matter how much kale you eat, you are not going to feel your best!
